Who can Work the Crowd the Best on the Mic?
Of everybody, who works the crowd the best?
I think that Vince McMahon works the mic among the best of others, he knows how to get under the fans skin, but also knows how to get a reaction.
1a. Stone Cold: Stone Cold always and I mean ALWAYS got a response from the crowd whether boos or cheers when playing heel or face, both of which he did masterful. The fact that his WHAT chant is still used by fans even in TNA is a testiment to how good Austin can work a crowd. Often when heel, SCSA would talk to the crowd telling them that he has a sore throat so they need to be quiet, or he would go out of the ring and say something to make fun of a fan's occupation. " if there is one thing I hate it's a ......... is 1 of many classic SCSA promos. Austin's gimme a hell yeah is legendary and no one recieves a pop like Stone Cold. a major part of that is his mike work.
1b) The Rock: The Rock is 1 of few wrestlers who can make a crowd go silent out of respect without WHAT chants. Rocky chants frequently bust out when Rock comes, and the Rock always gains cheers when a face. Even when turning heel in 2003, Rock played with the crowd by after crapping on them, when the Rock said finally the Rock has come back to Toron...... the fans still cheered him on. The fans also love If you smell what the Rock is cooking. The Rock also loves his millions and millions of Rock's fans and mentions them in promos. Despite being gone for 7 years, Rock came back delivered a top notch promo and had the crowd in the palm of his hand again.
2. Y2J: Jericho is also a master of working the crowd as heel or face, when in his recent heel turn calling them hypocrites and parasitic drones. Jericho is great as a face referring to his fans as Jerichoholics. and his vocal expressions play to the crowd. The fans love Y2J's comedic humor as face,
3. Hogan: Hulkamania ran wild in the 80's and fans loved Hogan in the ring and on the mike. Eat your vitamins and say your prayers were end all be all words for 80's young wrestling fans, and then later in 1996 on out, Hogan trashed his former Hulkamaniacs in NWO promos especially when they first formed.
4. Rick Rude: Maybe a suprising pick here, but if you have seen Rude promos, you know his greatness at playing a heel and to the fans. When taking his shirt off and dancing, Rude could capture women's attention like no other, and Rude always got heat as a master of cheap heat using the city he was in to make fun of fans.
5. Freddie Blassie: could go higher but the man was a master at antagonzizing the crowd, calling them pencil neck geeks was legnedary. Blassie was also great when managing which he was the best of all time at in my opinion. ( Bobby Heenan a close second) Blassie was especially good when matched with fellow legend Stan Hensen3. Hulk
Honorable mentions: HHH, Stan Hensen, CM Punk, Bobby Heenan, Kevin Nash, HBK ( particularly as a heel and in DX) Note: you said on the mike, as far as general playing with the crowd in the ring, Flair would make my list as would a mid 90's -2010 HBK.
