how many speakers can i plug into it 7 or 5?
Ok, the 700w would be the total amount of wattage output from the speakers. Being a 7.1, you have 7 speakers 100w a piece (front left, center, front right, side left, side right, rear left, and rear right). At first, I wanted a 7.1 as well, but the only advantage that you are getting is two extra speakers than a 5.1, and to tell you the truth 700w isn't that much, but it would still be pretty powerful. I have a 1000w 5.1, so more power in each speaker. Something like this is better because you want more wattage out of your front center speaker than out of the sides. Mine for instance has 300w out of the center speaker and 100w in each of the corner speakers front and back. The center is where you need the most power as the other speakers are merely for little sound effects and what not. Now, what this 700w 7.1 is doing is outputting an equal 100w per each of the 7 speakers, so you are going to get the same amount out of your center speaker (where most of the noise should come from) as you are going to get from the other speakers.
