Camcorder Microphone?

Greetings!

My father has me shopping for a camcorder microphone for his new Sony Camcorder. He will be using his camcorder and microphone to record his Karaoke shinanigans. The microphone and camcorder will be static while recording. All of the mounted microphone reviews seem to have one thing in common and that's that the sounds from the camcorder (humming, vibrations, etc.) can be picked up by the mic. So, I am looking for a small microphone that can be hooked up to the camcorder and placed somewhere between the camcorder and the subject AND will provide great sound. Looking to stay under $200. I know that drastically cuts down on the possiblities, but that's what I have to work with...

The Rode Videomic is a very good product that would suit what you describe pretty well. With a sock it will be good outside for other chores as well.
